Lighthouse

Billion years this world has spanned... Close to a hundred was mine to spend... Searching for meaning in this existence... Hoping someday I'll make a difference Wishing that maybe, just maybe... Behind me I leave more than a story... Let me be a light in the dark... Let me be a guide to the ships... Let me show the way to the port... Let me be a light house...

Bite Size Giggles

By De Ming

Seeing as there is a one week holiday, well at least four weekends, three Deepavali holidays and two applied leave (after all we must not allow school to get in the way of our education right?), studying Chemistry day in day out can be quite… erh hurm. So, I decided to search for some bite size quotes to de-stress myself and hopefully you too.

“But the fact that some geniuses were laughed at does not imply that all who are laughed at are geniuses. They laughed at Columbus, they laughed at Fulton, they laughed at the Wright brothers. But they also laughed at Bozo the Clown.”

Carl Sagan

“You can learn many things from children. How much patience you have, for instance.”

Franklin P. Adams

"I like a teacher who gives you something to take home to think about besides homework."

Edith Ann

“A teacher is one who talks in someone else's sleep.”

"Beer is proof that God loves us and wants us to be happy."

Benjamin Franklin

“Friendship is like peeing on yourself: everyone can see it, but only you get the warm feeling that it brings.”

Anonymous

“The man who smiles when things go wrong has thought of someone to blame it on.”

Robert Bloch

“When I die, I want to go peacefully like my Grandfather did, in his sleep -- not screaming, like the passengers in his car.”

Anonymous

“Men are like bank accounts. Without a lot of money they don't generate a lot of interest.”

Anonymous

“Last night I lay in bed looking up at the stars in the sky and I thought to myself, where the heck is the ceiling.”

Anonymous

“Brigands demand your money or your life; women require both.”
Samuel Butler

“I've often wanted to drown my troubles, but I can't get my wife to go swimming.”
Jimmy Carter

“USA Today has come out with a new survey: Apparently three out of four people make up 75 percent of the population.”
David Letterman

Mummy

By De Ming

Sixteen years ago,

A story began to unfold,

A story about a lump,

That told of a child that was to come.

My Mom she could have wanted me not,

Given me up without a thought,

But she let herself be cut opened,

For a baby that would not turn.

There were needles through her wrist,

There were stitches the doctors installed,

Just so her son could exist,

My Mom, she bears it all.

Without her I would not be,

Without her there was no me,

She was the reason to my presence,

The story behind my existence.

When I was a baby in her arms,

She would sing till I was calm,

She would pat me over here,

And whisper softly in my ear.

When I was a kid by the gate,

I would be scolded by the maid,

For I cried till no end,

When my Mom let go of my hand.

But when the gate swung open once more,

And as she came back in again,

I would run at her call,

And would hug her till my arms pained.

When I was a teenager with many dreams,

She helped me to believe in myself,

And guided me from walls I have not seen,

She helped me to be more of myself.

It is her birthday today,

And needless to say,

There were times when we made each other mad,

There were others when we made each other sad.

But beyond all that,

Beyond the bickering and arguing,

I have always appreciated,

This Mom I have been gifted.

Happy Birthday Mummy!

Message in a Bowl

By De Ming

one

Birthdays only comes once a year.

two

This year, I want my gift to be special.

three

So this is it!

THE MESSAGE IN A BOWL ©.

four

Life is like this bowl.

five

You can’t change the fact that I gave you a bowl.

six

Just as you can’t change the fact that you are who you are.

seven

You can’t change the fact that it is made of glass.

eight

Just as you cannot change the fact that problems will arise.

nine

You can however divert people’s attention by putting a flower in.

ten

Just as you can choose to solve your problems while always seeing all the beautiful things in life,

eleven

You can also choose how you will use your bowl.

twelve

You can throw it away and call it useless.

thirteen

Just as you can waste your life and throw it away.

fourteen

You can use it to keep rubbish

fifteen

Just as your life can be filled with meaningless things.

sixteen

Or why not put sweets inside and offer to others!

seventeen

Then you will be the sweet that makes people smile.

eighteen

But, more importantly.

nineteen

What I really am trying to say.

twenty

Is that whether you are made of glass or diamonds.

twenty one

You are a very special bowl to many of us

twenty two

Including me.

twenty three

HAPPY BIRTHDAY PEI KI!
